DTF Printing

Direct-to-Film printing delivers full-color, photo-quality transfers that can be heat pressed onto virtually any fabric. No minimums, no color limits, and incredible detail.

What Is DTF Printing?

DTF (Direct-to-Film) is a modern printing method where full-color designs are printed onto a special PET film, coated with adhesive powder, and then heat pressed onto garments. Unlike screen printing, DTF has no color limits and no minimum order requirements - making it perfect for small runs, detailed artwork, and photo-realistic prints.

DTF transfers work on cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, leather, and more. The result is a soft, flexible print with vibrant colors and fine detail that holds up through repeated washing. It's one of the most versatile decoration methods available today.

DTF vs. Screen Printing

Screen printing is still the best option for large bulk orders with simple designs - the per-unit cost drops significantly at higher quantities. But for small runs, complex artwork, or full-color photo prints, DTF is the clear winner.

With DTF, there are no screens to set up, no color separation fees, and no minimum quantities. You get the same vibrant, durable result whether you order 1 transfer or 1,000. It's also the better choice when printing on dark garments with detailed, multi-color designs.

DTF Printing FAQ

Common questions about Direct-to-Film printing.

What is DTF printing?

DTF (Direct-to-Film) is a printing method where full-color designs are printed onto a special PET film using CMYK and white ink, coated with adhesive powder, then heat pressed onto garments. It produces vibrant, durable prints with unlimited colors and no minimum order requirements.

What fabrics work with DTF transfers?

DTF transfers work on virtually any fabric including cotton, polyester, cotton-poly blends, nylon, leather, denim, and more. They adhere to both light and dark fabrics with excellent results, making DTF one of the most versatile decoration methods available.

Is there a minimum order for DTF?

No, there is no minimum order for DTF printing. You can order as few as one transfer. This makes DTF ideal for small businesses, samples, prototypes, and on-demand fulfillment where you need flexibility without committing to large quantities.

How long do DTF transfers last?

DTF transfers are highly durable and can withstand 50+ washes without cracking, peeling, or fading when properly applied. The adhesive bonds firmly to the fabric fibers, creating a permanent, flexible print that holds up through regular wear and laundering.

What is a gangsheet?

A gangsheet is a single sheet of transfer film with multiple designs arranged together to maximize space and reduce waste. Our online gangsheet builder lets you upload multiple designs, resize them, and arrange them on a sheet before ordering — so you get the most transfers for your money.

DTF vs screen printing — which should I choose?

Screen printing is better for large bulk orders (48+ pieces) with simple, limited-color designs — the per-unit cost drops significantly at scale. DTF is better for small runs, complex multi-color artwork, photo-realistic prints, or when you need no minimums. DTF also has no setup fees or color separation costs.
